The wedding industry has exploded in recent years. Sometimes it feels like every wedding our photographers go to is bigger and grander than the last one. While large weddings are certainly fun, some people crave a smaller ceremony.
Weddings held at City Hall tend to be just that, small and intimate. Couples often choose to just have closes family and friends join them. Our Toronto wedding photographers love City Hall weddings because it means we get to use the city as our backdrop for photos.
For those looking to get married at City Hall, the Civic Wedding Chambers are located on the third floor of the building. Ceremonies are performed every half hour, so these tend to be quicker affairs. Because it’s in a government building, there are only certain days the ceremonies can be held as well. It’s closed Sunday, Statutory Holidays, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
City Hall has room for around 30 people to attend the wedding, providing 15 seats and room for another 15 to stand. The Civic Wedding Chambers are nice modern spaces with a neutral background. You are allowed to bring along a wedding photographer so don’t worry we can be there to capture the special day!
City Hall and the surrounding Downtown Toronto area is the perfect spot to take wedding and engagement photos for city lovers. There are tons of amazing landmarks for a couple to pose in front of such as the 3D Toronto sign in Nathan Phillips Square.
The older stone building and more modern glass ones also provide amazing backdrops for couples. The architecture makes a flowing wedding dress just pop. Take a look at some of our past wedding and engagement photos shot at City Hall and the surrounding areas.
Feel free to contact us to book one of our amazing Toronto wedding photographers. We’d love to be there to capture all the special moments, no matter how small the ceremony is!
