6 Things No One Tells You About Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. It’s a magical moment, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be perfect. Even a perfectly planned wedding will have some hiccups. There are also a few things about weddings that no one tends to talk about ahead of time. Our wedding photographers have been to a lot of weddings, so here are some things you should know beforehand so they don’t take you by surprise.

Your Wedding Dress Will Get Dirty

Everyone knows the stress of wearing white- you spend so much time worrying about getting it dirty! While you should try to avoid any big spills, just know that your wedding gown will get dirty by the end of the day. The long dress will be dragging on the floor, so expect to see some stains, marks, and even small rips at the bottom. Don’t worry though after the big day you should just send your dress to get dry-cleaned and preserved!

Expect to Sweat

Sweating isn’t pretty, but you can expect it to happen on your big day! Whether it’s from the weather or the stress, our wedding photographers find that most brides and grooms perspire quite a bit on their big day. Grooms should have a handkerchief or cloth ready and brides should bring along some extra powder to fight shine. And don’t forget deodorant!

You Won’t Get to Savor the Details

There are so many small details that go into a wedding. It’s these small touches that make it your own. Unfortunately, you’ll probably be way too busy at your wedding to stop and appreciate these. Whether it’s a cute décor item or a fun item like a photo booth, you may not get to enjoy these. There’s a reason they say you plan a wedding for guests. You’ll be far too busy taking photos, greeting guests, and listening to speeches. That doesn’t mean you won’t get to enjoy your special day, it just means you probably won’t get to appreciate it all at the moment.

It Won’t Go as Planned

There is so much planning that goes into a wedding, but one thing that our wedding photographers have seen at just about every wedding is that not everything will go as planned. Try not to stress about the things that go wrong. Just stop and enjoy the day for what it is- you and your significant other committing to each other. Maybe the weather won’t cooperate or a member of the wedding party gets sick. Take a deep breath and remember that it’s not the little things that make a wedding special.

You Won’t Remember it Perfectly

Weddings are overwhelming. There’s a lot that happens in such a short amount of time. One of the most common things wedding photographers hear is that the wedding goes by so quickly. That’s why wedding photos and videos are so special- they capture all of the little moments you might have been too busy to notice. Don’t feel bad if your wedding day is one big happy blur when you look back on it.

It Will Feel Weird Once It’s Over

There are months, if not years, of planning and thought that go on before a wedding. After it’s all done it’s not uncommon for brides and grooms to feel a little deflated and lost afterward. You’ll also feel relieved that all of the decision making is over and you can finally enjoy being married! Just don’t beat yourself up if you feel a mix of emotions afterward.
