Unless you’re spending your entire wedding day in one place, chances are you’ll need wedding transportation services. Thankfully, wedding transportation has evolved beyond just limos, but there are a few things you should consider when picking the right mode of transport for your big day. Luckily, our wedding photographers have been to plenty of weddings so here are a few helpful tips to help you out!
Decide When You Need It
Determining when you need your wedding transportation all depends on how your big day is structured. Some people opt to drive themselves to their getting-ready spot and only arrange wedding transportation for their big arrival or exit at the reception. There is no right or wrong answer- some couples drive themselves the whole day! Just make sure you have the proper transportation to get to the getting ready location, to the ceremony, to the reception, and to wherever you’re spending the night. You won’t want to have to rely on public transit or taxis on your big day.
A big factor in determining which wedding transportation is right for your big day is who will be riding in the vehicle. Some people only hire wedding transportation for the bride and groom. Other’s arrange it for the wedding party and close family as well. And if your wedding location is far away you may even want to consider hiring transportation to bring all guests! Make sure you account for everything you’re bringing with you and your wedding dress as well.
Think Outside the Box
Traditionally, brides and grooms rode around in limos or town cars on their big day. These days people are getting bolder and selecting transportation that matches their theme or personality. There are tons of fun wedding rides these days such as carriages, party buses, camper vans, bicycles, and even helicopters.
Book Early Into Planning
It may surprise you to learn that wedding transportation services tend to book up quickly, especially unique options. Make sure you book your transport early into the planning process. Once you have your location and date set reach out and arrange it. Don’t forget to pad some extra time for delays in your transport schedule to account for things such as traffic.
Stay Within Theme
Most weddings have a theme in mind when planning. It helps keep all of the elements and decisions cohesive. Your wedding transportation should also stay within the theme. If you’re planning a traditional, elegant wedding stick with classic transport options. If you’re going for a bohemian outdoor wedding look into more rustic options. Just make sure you don’t go too against everything else. Arriving in a horse-drawn carriage to a casual wedding would just look out of place.
Keep Pictures in Mind
As wedding photographers, we love when couples arrange beautiful transportation. It provides a great opportunity for beautiful photographs. If you want to make a grand entrance, get shots of you leaving the wedding, or want to pose near the transport make sure you keep pictures in mind when booking.
