6 Wedding Hair Tips All Brides Should Know

All brides want to feel beautiful on their special day. From the gown to makeup, there are a lot of elements that go into a bridal look, and it all starts from the top- your hair. Finding the perfect wedding hairstyle can be tricky, so here are a few tips to keep in mind!

Don’t Do Anything Drastic

One thing that we wish we could stress to as brides as wedding photographers is that you’ll want to look like yourself. On your wedding day, you should look like the most beautiful version of you. But when you look back on your wedding photos in ten years you should be able to recognize yourself. Avoid making any drastic changes before your wedding, like a major haircut or vibrant hair color.

Consider the Weather

Brides and grooms try to control as much as they can about their wedding, but the weather is one thing that no one can. Instead of ignoring or fighting against it, be sure that you take the weather on your wedding day into consideration. If your venue is known for being windy or that time of year has a lot of rain usually all of that should be factored into your wedding hair choice.

Think About the Timeline

Wedding hairstylist can do a stunning job. However, by the end of the night, most brides don’t look nearly as polished. Between moving around, dancing, eating, taking photos and everything else chances are your hair will get a bit messed up. Be sure to have a kit handy if you need to fix your hair, but if you plan on tearing it up on the dance floor maybe go for a hairstyle that can take a lot of movement.

Plan a Hair Trial

Before your big day, you should do a hair and makeup test run. That way you can test out different styles and get an idea of what you’ll look like on your big day. Be sure to take photos so you can see how well it photographs as well! Some people find after the fact that they hate how they look with their hair up or down, but by then it’s too late.

Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

Photographs recommend you look like yourself on your wedding day, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to your daily hairstyle. Don’t be afraid to try something new for your wedding. Listen to your hair stylist’s advice and play around with some ideas. If you don’t like how it looks though, don’t be afraid to speak up!

Prioritize Comfort

Brides go through a lot to look beautiful on their wedding day. Between tight dresses and uncomfortable shoes, it can be a lot. Make sure that you feel comfortable wearing your hair a certain way all day. It can be hard to take good wedding photos when the bride is fighting a headache from pins digging into her head.
