Do you want a wedding filled with arts and culture as well as love? Consider a museum for your wedding venue! Toronto is home to many stunning museums that are perfect for any wedding. These historical havens are full of priceless artwork, gorgeous architecture, and unique spaces for you to say “I do” around.
Royal Ontario Museum
The ROM is Toronto’s most popular museum. Its halls are filled with Egyptian mummies, Chinese sculptures, dinosaur bones, and more. It’s not just inside that looks nice- the architecture is also iconic. It’s one of the most beautiful spots in the city and has 12 amazing event spaces to choose from.
Art Gallery of Ontario
If art is more your thing, then check out the AGO. The AGO is home to works by Monet, Picasso, Rembrandt, and many more to just name a few. It has a few event spaces to choose from, with the largest having a capacity of 400! Perfect for large, classic weddings.
Aga Khan Museum
The Aga Khan is one of the most beautiful museums in the city, inside and out. The building was designed by Fumihiko Maki, and flawlessly blends traditional Islamic design and contemporary architecture. It also has some of the most stunning landscaping and gardens around, including a reflection pool, hedges, and flowers. You’ve got tons of event space options at Aga Khan, and you could also just use the exterior for wedding photos.
Gardiner Museum
Not as many people know about the Gardiner Museum, but it’s a great option, especially if you love ceramics. The goods inside might be from the past, but the building design is nothing but modern with floor-to-ceiling windows, white walls, and limestone floors. There are five event spaces to choose from ranging in capacity from 50-280 guests.
Bata Shoe Museum
If you want a museum that’s more fun and quirkier, stop by the Bata Shoe Museum! It’s located not far from the ROM, but it’s exclusively dedicated to showing off fashionable footwear throughout history. It has an impressive collection featuring Queen Victoria’s ballroom slippers, Elvis Presley’s blue suede shoes, and even John Lennon’s Beatle boots. They have a few studios and spaces you can rent for weddings of various sizes, so check them out!
Campbell House Museum
Nestled in the heart of downtown Toronto, surrounded by skyscrapers, you’ll find a beautiful 1822 Georgian-style home. It was originally a family home for Chief Justice Sir William Campbell and his family, but it’s now operated as a museum and event space, which is often used for TIFF. It has a few event spaces you can use for weddings, including a ballroom, dining room, and gardens.
Spadina Museum
While you won’t find fossils or high-value art here, the Spadina Museum will give you a slice of the old life. The historic house is full of old goodies that show you how people used to live in the past. They have two space options here-the East Sunroom which can fit 25 guests, perfect for an intimate wedding, and the Terrance & Gardens, which can seat 120 guests.
