Guide to Groom Wedding Grooming

Beauty routines aren’t just for the bride! The groom is one half of the equation when it comes to weddings, and it’s just as important that they look and feel good. From hair to shaving, here is the ultimate guide to groom grooming!

Be the Best You

One thing our wedding photographers suggest to both brides and grooms is that you still want to look like yourself on your wedding day. Too often, brides and grooms go for drastic changes and styles on their big day. Then when the photos get sent, they don’t even recognize themselves! The best grooming tip grooms can follow is to focus on looking like the best version of themselves.

Think About Haircut Timeline

All men’s hair grows at different rates, and it’s important for grooms to schedule their haircuts at the right time. Does your hair look best the day it’s cut? Then make sure you visit your barber or bring them in the morning of. Does your hair look better with a day or two of growth? Schedule a visit to get it cut a few days before!

Shave Carefully

The last thing you want to do is shave recklessly and end up with razor burn or a cut on your face the hours before your wedding. Make sure you shave carefully and even invest in products like shaving oil and a fresh razor. You could even splurge and bring in someone for an old-school straight razor shave for you and your groomsmen as a treat.

Keep Facial Hair Neat

If you have a beard or mustache, make sure it’s well-groomed on the day. Trim it so that it looks neat and fresh, and even invest in some wax or oil so that it’s shiny and tamed. Give your facial hair some TLC on your big day so that your mug looks good in all the wedding pictures.

Book a Manicure

Manicures are a staple part of the bridal beauty routine, but more and more men are realizing their value.. As wedding photographers, we know just how many hand close-up shots will be taken. You don’t want your nails to look dirty, overgrown, or unkempt next to your bride’s beautifully manicured hand. Male manicures don’t include polish or acrylics (unless you want them!) and will focus on cleaning up your cuticles, filing your nails, and buffing away any rough skin.

Take Care of Your Face

Too often, grooms get dressed and call it a day. What they don’t remember is that they’ll be out in the sun and sweating. Your bride will be slathered in sunscreen and makeup to keep her looking fresh, so do you really want to look sweaty and burnt next to her? Make sure you apply sunscreen and even consider concealer and a little powder to keep you looking fresh all day too.
